What is Mud House?

Mud House is a building constructed with the soil dug from the same land where the house is built.The wall of the mud house is made of unbaked earth, often constructed of molded sun-dried.Blocks of mud usually mixed with straw, manure, or other materials.

Popularity in Bangladesh:

It is more popular in rural areas rather than urban areas.The average percentage of Mud houses for urban and rural areas are 46% and 83%  accordingly in 2007 .But it decreased in 2014.,Bangladesh demography survey 2014 states that on average of 68 % houses are either made up of mud or sand. As time goes on, it is in the verge of extinction because of urbanization.


Financial Advantage:

Firstly, Mud House is made of mud which is local , low costly and can be found everywhere in Bangladesh.Secondly, wall of the mud house keeps room cool during summer season and warm during winter season.As a result, it is considered as  air conditioned house for the poor.

In Bangladesh, a mud house is one of the traditional housing types that are used by poor families,mainly in rural areas ,as well as in the outskirts of small cities. Moreover, given the dual challenge of a growing fuel crisis and concerns of global warming, the amount of energy used to provide thermal comfort levels will become unsustainable; sustainable,  ecological, and climate-adaptable architecture offers possible solutions to this challenge.









Last but not the least,according to statistic nearly 5 million people are homeless so mud house can be a good accommodation for them as its cheap and comfortable.Moreover,principles of Vernacular Architecture can be applied to modern architecture and offer improved adaptation to a particular climate  in order to provide an enhanced level of comfort in modern day living.

Stoicism in modern world If you don't know what Stoicism is, don't worry, I didn't know either. I used to find it humorous with the never ending self-help books that exist that still try to answer "How To Be Happy", when it was answered, or at least that's what I thought, 2000 years ago by the ancient Greek word Eudaimonia .
